Hydrous Magnesium Silicate Clay Minerals
 
The main raw material for sea mud mud is sepiolite powder, which is a hydrated magnesium silicate clay mineral that is pure, non-toxic, odorless, and non-radioactive. It has the largest specific surface area in non-metallic minerals (maximum Up to 900m2/g) and unique content pore structure, is recognized as the strongest adsorption clay mineral.

Some of the surface properties of sepiolite (such as the weak acidity of the surface, the substitution of magnesium ions with other ions, etc.) make it itself useful as a catalyst for certain reactions. Therefore, sepiolite is not only a good adsorbent but also a good catalyst and catalyst carrier.
